Art Every Day Month 5

Another day of fun stuff.  I continued working on my acrylic piece…Sleepy Moon.  Just playing around with drippy paint to see what happens.  It’s looking more sleepy than I had imagined though…hmm…

Afterwards, I just started doodling again.  I have a lot of journals, but can’t seem to keep it all together.  Perhaps a physical, nicely bound journal is just too much pressure for me.  I prefer working on whatever, whenever and I just keep it all in a file folder.  Usually it’s just printer/copy paper that I doodle on.  I think of my stack of doodles as an inspiration file, since doodles and sketches are good times to practice random things and experiment. Here’s a bunch of doodles I’m working on, perhaps I can turn them digital or even paint something…

These robots were inspired by a panda doll named Quincy, my friend owns (check out Quincy Adventures) That should explain the funky mustache look on both robots!

Just more doodling…I like the upside down bit a lot…think I will expand on that at some point.

In the end, I started another acrylic piece in the same color scheme as my first experiment.  I just like the colors and playing with dripping paint…

Have you ever done illustrations for a children’s book? Or even sold your doodles as digital elements at a digital scrapbook store? this is just one store as an example http://www.the-lilypad.com/store/home.php

    have a great day!

Hi Julie – Wow! I have to say I’m so flattered you would ask about doing professional work. I’m totally just starting out and have never done anything illustration as a job. I must confess it sounds fabulous…but have no clue where to start. Seems like something where you have to know the people and sort of have an in?! Although, I feel as if I should be more proactive and try to submit…hmm…

Linda, I love your robot illustrations… I feel a delightful sense of play and whimsy that warms my heart. Your sleepy moon has a lot of personality too.

Thank you! Sometimes my doodles are a bit dark, but I would like them to be happy and inspiring most of the time. Actually, I should share the colored versions, because my niece just kidnapped both robots to color right now!

Sleepy moon is cute! And I wish I doodled more. These days I don’t seem to make art except rarely and then in November. Doodling and noodling would generate a lot more ongoing flow.

I think that doodling and on whatever paper, not necessarily a journal, makes it less pressure. You can do it while on the phone…listening to music, watching tv…etc.

    Hiay Linda,

A girl after my own heart doodling and keeping them on random bits of paper not to mention the journals.

I love the figures and saw them on flickr so full of life and fun.

    Linda,
The doodles are great. The flowers with faces really caught my eye, they are wonderful. The dripping paint project looks great too.
Having fun with all is so wonderful, thank you for sharing.

Formal journals are hard for me too…much prefer scraps, backs of envelopes, napkins. And they end up in random piles or folders. Lots of times, tho, the ideas reappear after they’ve percolated for a bit and then I have a place to start a piece. I especially love your drippy experiments.

You wouldn’t believe it but I have wasted all day searching for some articles about this. I wish I knew of this site earlier, it was a essential read and really helped me out. Have a good one,
