We’re In This Together

Oh, how lovely it is to receive a gift of original artwork!  I recently received an original painting by Odile Nicolette through an art exchange and I am so thankful.  It was a great surprise that not only provided delight, but also inspiration and a feeling of community.  I have been so blessed to be able to connect with folks even though I have moved so far from my previous home.  I have to say thank you so much to Odile as well and express how wonderful it is to connect with people all over the world, especially through art.  Isn’t her work so expressive and lush to look at?  It made me happy to receive a gift, not just because of the physical item, but honestly for the new connection with another artist and the idea of how we all support each in this great community.  I know sometimes we can be discouraged by a bit of artist envy or the success of others around us, but I choose to find inspiration instead and smile at the success that is possible for all of us.

It suddenly hit me how important community really is and how we’re in this together – all us artisans, painters, crafters – all of us in the world really.  Even if you don’t know me and I don’t know you…we’re still connected in the fabric of society as a whole and everything has a ripple effect, no matter how small you may think it is.  What may be a simple gesture from you, might have great meaning for another given their circumstances and point in life.  Lately, things have been a bit rough personally and these little surprises really help to brighten my day and remind me of the beauty all around.  The issues of climate change and even the recent earthquake disaster in Haiti has made me think of how we collectively are in this together and we have to start thinking and acting with that in mind.  In this world and in this life, we have to support each other if we’re all going to make it.  I send my hope and prayers to the victims of Haiti and will always strive to do what I can.  Optimism, positivity and finding the light in all situations is the key and in creating my artwork I hope to contribute and connect with others, to inspire smiles, laughs and love always.  Happy Friday everyone!

Hi Lara! Thanks for stopping by, love your work and so glad you are okay with me posting about it. It’s funny how small the world can be…we are both sort of expats here in the land of la dolce vita!

You are so right, Linda. When I look around at all the violence and fighting in the world, or even close at home friends fighting over silly things that don’t really matter in the big scheme of things, it just makes me want to shake the whole world and say, “get over it”. As a planet I wish everyone would just embrace each other and support each other through this life.

maybe a good shake once in a while isn’t a bad idea at all! :P I also wish everyone could embrace and support…enough with the madness!
