Update on Prints
Happy Tuesday to you! Today I am spending time doing some Spring cleaning from a digital standpoint. I tend to always have so much going on, things can get a bit messy on my computer. I am also wondering how I can organize things better and reduce the cost of listing items on Etsy…even though it doesn’t seem much at first, over time it really adds up.

My first experiment was setting up my big cartel shop with the cute kitchen prints you see above. I can only list 5 products with a free account, so I suppose it’s not a long term solution. However, I did want to try it and it is certainly very simple to add products and set up shop. Creating these graphic art prints sort of replaced last weeks notes to myself art print, but I did get to illustrating one this week – Smile!

Again, due to listing costs I won’t be listing these prints into my Etsy shop anymore…will have to figure out a way to share them somewhere. Although it’s nice to be part of the Etsy community, there are so many shops it doesn’t seem like listing there helps you to be seen really…you have to get people there no matter what. In which case, isn’t it better to just list items in your website and have a Paypal button? I wonder…
In other musings, I also created a new digital stamp set of owls and gave them funny names like big mister, chubby and wiseguy… I liked them so much, I had to use them for a repeating pattern. Here’s a little peek of the pattern as I play around, but not done yet. What do you think?

Hi Linda!
I love love your prints! the coffee and the pasta are just adorable! Have a great week
Thanks Sarah! I really like the one illustration multiplied into a pattern…pretty cool!
Oh, I adore the owls(and the names too, very cute!). Will you be offering this design in your Spoonflower gallery? I will be the first in line to buy a yard! I so want to make a baby blanket with this design!
Your kitchen prints are beautiful as well, they would also make great fridge magnets! Loving your post today! Beautiful!
Thanks Gretchen! I haven’t yet finalized this owl pattern yet…trying to think what I would use it for before making it a Spoonflower design. Ooo…baby blanket…if you want certain colors, maybe I can make the pattern for you? I’m not yet experienced enough to get the right colors though and it’s always very troubling to me when the colors turn out sort of weird (also depending on the fabric.) Do you have any tips?
Hi Linda,
I’m just in the beginnings of the process of setting up my own website which will be integrated with etsy as a way to pay for the items purchased by buyers. The whole thing boggles my mind and I am putting my trust in a web designer to get me through it all….gulp!! Love your new items by the way!

Yes, I think it’s totally smart to get someone who knows to do the work…so you can spend your time on your creations! I am wondering if it’s better just to put everything on my website with paypal buttons, since folks pay with that anyway and it also accepts credit card, etc. Good luck on your site!
I think your little owl prints are so sweet. I hope all goes well with your shop. I have used bigcartel before and found it to be very streamlined and efficient too.
Thanks so much for your well wishes…I also like that big cartel is so easy to use…the only thing is that I don’t think I can take the overhead of any fees at this point. I already pay for hosting of this website…sigh!
I am busy trying to figure out all those riddles, too!
Where to try to sell my stuff…..
Where will anyone see it…
How to point anyone in the right direction to find my stuff….
Arg!!!!
Maybe there really is no ONE answer…just have to find the right combination??
Good to know I’m not alone in all this stuff…it can be so overwhelming at times. I suppose the issue is getting people to see it…there’s so much out there, we all get a bit lost amongst it all. I do think it also takes time, so I am being very patient
those owls are adorable! they would be so cute on wrapping paper or a notebook cover; I can think of all kinds of places they’d work. I hear ya on the Etsy thing. It can be frustrating trying to be found in the giant pile of artists. People will suggest that you need to list 10 items a day and that still won’t guarantee anything except a large bill at the end of the month! I’ve decided not to think about it for awhile and just focus on creating.
Thanks so much, Bobbi…I am hoping to one day see my work on actual products … surface design is so interesting to me! Good advice to now think about all those issues…I’m going to just focus on creating too
these are great! I love them all, the coffee is my fave. Linda, have you tried shophandmade.com for selling? that is where I have my digital stamp store and it is free! They do not charge to list and take no fees. you can buy additional advertizing if you like but I don’t and my shop does well. It is an option anyway:)
Hi Lindsay – Thank you! I have no tried shophandmade before…so cool that it is free! That’s amazing they don’t charge fees you can list all those items, will definitely check it out. Grazie!
