Happy Thursday to everyone and Happy April! Can’t believe the year is going by so quickly – I suppose that means I’m having fun and really making use of my time. I always feel like I don’t have enough hours in a day though. To do all that I want to do, I’m feel ansy all the time, wanting to get the ideas in my head out and completed. Well, one step at a time, right? As promised from yesterday, I finally gave my dip pen another try and practiced. I tried all the nibs and picked the most comfortable one to doodle with. I also managed to get ink all over the place and staining my hands…eek! Anyone know how to get india ink off your hands?

I’m also continuing with my watercoloring and illustration. The lady from last time is finished from a watercolor perspective, so I took her off my board to dry and will add details with pen and ink. I also started another lady with a house on her head…beginning watercolor stage here…

Now I’m going to take a break and wait for things to dry…will visit the other kootoyoo creative spaces. Check them out for inspiration!

I like all the little circles that look like pebbles. I’m a big fan of doodles, I even have a tiny notebook dedicated to them
maybe nail varnish remover would get the ink off your skin?
Oh I am in love with circle patterns…I guess because it’s relaxing to just do a simple pattern! So fun that you have a doodle sketchbook! I have multiple sketchbooks so I can work on different things at the same time…but doodling sort of goes everywhere…ahah! Ooo…haven’t tried that nail varnish remover – thanks for the tip!
Am with Katy. Those circles from image #2 has huge potential, Linda!
Thanks so much! It’s funny how the simplest patterns can be so interesting!
Whenever I end up with ink or paint all over my hands, I just go wash dishes. It works and gets the dishes done!
I like the little circles too. My eyes were immediately drawn to them:)
Really, maybe that type of soap is super powerful…ahah…it’s weird when you have stains on your hands, keep wanting to run them off. Anyway, after a day it’s pretty much gone…thankfully!
Well done with trying dip pen! Pen and Ink is my first experience with drawing and right now I’m adding brush work to be part of it. I’m sticking to ink as color medium. I used a cotton tip and dip into “rubbing alcohol” (which I got from pharmacy) to remove ink stain from my hands. I also use the alcohol to remove dried ink stain on nib. As alcohol evaporates easily, it would not cause rust on the nib. Hope this helps!
Thanks! Oh interesting to use the alcohol…I actually bought a big bottle to try resists in painting, but didn’t exactly work. I guess I can wash my hands instead LOL! Great tip on washing the nibs, I never thought to clean them…oops!
I love calligraphy everything. I have been learning about calligraphy this year and it has been a blast. I am not sure how to get the ink off, but something about the ink mark makes me feel like I have traveled back in time. Thanks for the website suggestion. I enjoyed looking at other peoples projects.
Hi Nicky! Yeah, I’m a big fan of hand lettering and calligraphy, but I’m not very good at it. Seeing others though really inspire me of course. I totally know what you mean traveling back in time…like the victorian days, writing love letters and folks have such beautiful handwriting
Linda,
I love your watercolour illustration character.
She feels so alive with personality already!
I’m inspired to go create now.
I also like caligraphy and it’s quite good as in primary and secondary school we all used fountain pens, with cartridges. Although not quite as antique and unique as the usual caligraphy pen, it still felt wonderful to write in such a way.
Thanks so much, I’m glad you are inspired to create! It’s the greatest feeling to just go and have fun…
Time is the only thing that seems to get india ink off of my hands!
Haha, true! Perhaps time heals all!
