TGIF…in both the Thank Goodness It’s Friday and Trust, Gratitude, Inspiration Friday aspects. At times I’ve been feeling really good and on a roll…thankful for inspiration and how lovely life is. Then I hit a block and suddenly the view is so much grimmer. I keep feeling like I don’t have enough time and so worried that I won’t get to do all and really become successful. I know it’s so drama-esque-sounding.
It got me thinking about the Law of Attraction, that somehow our thoughts could influence actual events. Personally, I struggle with the topic because I want it to be true but at the same time think that it doesn’t make sense. I’m a worker bee type and there’s satisfaction in hard work leading to success. I know that I often feel it’s proper to do things from scratch, to earn it through toiling away, even if it wasn’t necessary. There was discussion of the Law of Attraction on the Spring Inspiration site and they also mentioned David Neagle’s Art of Success talk. I don’t know what came over me, but I suddenly thought perhaps I needed to seek guidance from an outsider.
Instead of watching TV, let’s say, should I invest a couple hours in his talks? At first it seems like it could be a bunch of hooey… and the fact that it’s all free makes me wonder if there is a marketing ploy at the end. Has anyone ever listened to his talk or perhaps similar motivational, sort of philosophical talk kind of stuff? Do you think pep talks are helpful? Perhaps the Law of Attraction simply means that we have to believe in the possibility, so that our mind is opened up to opportunities? Something like believing in yourself?
To top it all off, Creative Thursday just posted a podcast about being a winner and success. More to think about. My mind is just swirling around these theories, thoughts and conflicts about success, winning, making it…I’ll be taking the weekend to ponder away. Have a good one yourself…

Dear Linda,
I don’t know whether you know, but last Sunday there was a solar eclipse and from then on energetically a lot has been coming up for a lot of us individuals in effect of that solar eclipse. On an Astrology level the new moon is an opening for new beginnings and I don’t know whether you are aware or believe that the moon often affects us emotionally, and what is going on right now it seems that you are experiencing an effect of the wider context of that change. Perhaps this is not of interest or help, but this weekend is a good time to go inside ourselves to reflect on all that is going on and balance our emotional needs with our own intentions. Your post reminded me of that.
I have never heard of David Neagle. If you are drawn to his talks, you will listen to them when you are ready. I feel you will find your much needed answers of success inside, and all will be revealed to you.
In regards to law of attraction, for me it always works because if I think something, than it happens. All my dreams always come true, because I manifest them into reality almost naturally and this has come about from my own way of being, and living true to experience life as it is in the moment. Whatever you think of ‘the law of attraction’ what counts is how you feel inside, and whether your life is true to you.
Enjoy your nurturing weekend.
I shall be having a week away to connect with my inner self and the surrounding environment, in return to offer my help to others in a self sustaining low carbon community, so I may not see or hear from you the whole week.
Take care and stay in tune.
Hi Ana! Thanks for your information, I didn’t know about the solar eclipse either. I know that a lot has to do with our own thoughts, feelings and esteem…we all do have such power. We just have to learn to wield it perhaps. Thanks for your thoughts and have a great week off!
I don’t know much about law of attraction but I do know that having positive attitude, believing in yourself and the possibilities, not beating yourself up when things don’t go according to plan or as fast as you would like them to is the most important thing for anything that you want to achieve. Having a real, genuine passion, working really hard towards your goal, learning from and appreciating others who have gone through the similar path that you’re taking, remembering to stop and take a breather and appreciate everything that you’ve already got and have achieved, helping others to achieve their goals too…these are the ingredients that have always worked for me in the past.
Very true…I suppose having a positive attitude can never be bad. Perhaps it’s the start of everything, otherwise you wouldn’t be driven to do anything else. I think passion keeps you going no matter what and a good attitude lets you see the future possibilities. Thanks for your thoughts, I really appreciate it!
I was thinking along the same lines as Veronika! I don’t know about the Law of Attraction specifically, but my experience has always been that if I worked hard and prepared myself in a certain direction, amazing opportunities would come along. I think a good part of it is being open to the possibilities and seeing them when they come along.
Hi Kat – Thanks for your comment…I suppose if we look back and really analyze our pasttimes we might see the pattern of how we succeed. Sometimes it’s just hard to see it! I agree we do have to open. Personally I think sometimes I do shut out opportunities just because I never considered it possible or an option…
Such a wonderful post with so many links! I do believe in the law of attraction and positive thinking! I love sweet Marisa’s podcast ~ very inspiring as always! Have a lovely merry happy weekend and love to yoU!
Hi Jacqueline – Thanks for dropping by and hope the positive thinking in general helps all of us. I love Marisa’s podcasts also, always inspiring and positive!
Hey Linda! thanks for stopping by my blog and your lovely comments!
I have always been a firm believer in Positive Thinking, I’m a bit of a Pollyanna-I want to believe that people are essentially good and that if we help others we will get help when we need it too. I’m not sure about the Law of Attraction it seems like a marketing ploy to me and a lot like pop psycho babble. We make our own luck by working hard, learning, growing and sharing what we have learned.
I think that with our age of and instant information through technology, modern myths can be perpetuated and given more weight than in the past. We all are responsible for what happens to ourselves.
I love how you share your positive outlook through your blog!
Oh–you asked me about what pens I use for my doodling–I use what ever I can get my hands on–Pitt Artist pens, Staedtler Pigment Fine liners and Sakura Pigma Microns.
Happy Friday!
Stephanie
I agree positive thinking can only result in good things and a much happier time at least! But I also agree with your hard working aspect…I don’t think we can make things happen without action. I think the Law of Attraction got popular from a book or movie or something…I suppose whatever works for you is the best? Whatever gives you the motivation. However we do have to own up – that we control what happens to us…one thing I can’t stand are the constant lamenters…sort of a debbie downers! Thanks for the pen tips!
I think if you work hard toward your goals and focus on the big picture, good things are going to happen to you. Whether that is because you have thought them into reality or because you worked hard and put yourself in the path of opportunity is (maybe) irrelevant.
Personally, I find pep talks INCREDIBLY helpful. If I’m not feeling motivated to work or I am feeling really blue, listening to a motivational speech or reading a motivational book will really perk me back up.
Good point that we don’t necessarily have to understand why or how it happened…but I agree that pep talks and an optimistic view sure helps it to be a happier journey!
