After playing around with bookbinding and creating journals for fun, I decided to go ahead with my idea of creating something more involving. Rather than a totally blank journal, I’ve decided to include some prompts to get you to start journaling and beat the blank page fear. A simple longstitch bound notebook, approximately 8.5 x 6 inches. Every journal is unique, a different piece of leather, a different cardstock lining inside. Pretty cool, eh?

I thought for the Independence holiday, I would give away one of these journals – in the spirit of freedom and letting go – in Art! I know there are many people out there who do not journal for fear of the blank page, for fear of judgement or what they think they should write or create inside. It’s time to let go of all preconceptions and just go for it!

Just comment below on what you look for in a journal or sketchbook for a chance to win. Open to anyone in the world, I’ll randomly pick a winner from the comments on July 5th. You can also buy one directly in my Etsy shop. Happy holiday weekend to those in the USA. Ciao ciao!
UPDATE: Giveaway has ended! Random.org came up with 9 – so the winner is Andrea – congrats!

love your journals. I am soon to be an empty nester and start a new journey in my life. After raising 4 children I am starting to figure out who I am now going to be.
I pretty much stopped with my journal when I started blogging. I love to be able to look back and reflect on where I’ve been. When looking for a journal – I want texture. Smoothness or roughness of the paper and cover. Blank pages don’t scare me – I find them inspiring.
I would love to be included in your give away – I’ve never had a handmade book of any kind before.
Linda, I love your journals.
Since I gave art journiling a try, I became addicted to it
The freedom to express yourself, not for external appreciation, but just to create.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Your journals are so beautiful! I love your added text to the pages. The most important things to me in a journal are that they can fit easily in a purse when I’m on the go, that the paper is thick and won’t bleed through AND that they open flat all the way!!
Happy 4th!! Best wishes from Germany, tj
I look for good quality paper and a cover that doesn’t make me cringe (too cutesy, for example). Yours are beautiful!
Beautiful journals. I am totally in love with art journaling! I usually have a couple of journals on the go, and, depending on a number of factors…my mood, the medium I want to use, size, etc…will jump around amongst my different styles of journals. I love the idea of a prompted, leather journal, which is hand stitched! Thank you for a chance to win one.
Your journals are so beautiful, with the softest looking leather covers. Such a great idea to add prompts to these journals. It’s always nice to have a little spark to get you going when you’re starting a page in your journal. I love to use my journals for writing ideas and drawing, so I personally love paper that can handle different mediums and won’t smear.
Hi, Greetings from South Africa
I am very fond of watercolor painting, so I would look for thicker paper in a journal. I also like a journal that opens up properly so that I can paint easily in it. We don’t have a lot of choice here, so I usually use a spiral bound watercolor book.

Your journals are beautiful. In the past I have favored lined pages, but I’m moving now toward larger plain pages. I can always glue in lined areas, but this leaves more room for creativity. Not too small. My favorite journal ever was about 9×11″ with a varying light blue marbled cover.
Beautiful and inspirational – a worthy space for mind and growth
It’s got to have a sort of organic feel to it, something slightly handmade in look (in a good way). But I’m not all that picky when it comes to journals–’though I’m terrible at keeping them, I love collecting them!
Beautiful journals you have Linda. What I look for in a journal is something that is sturdy and can hold watercolor. Something not so big that I can carry around to make art. Blank pages challenge me to create.. I never want to run out of ideas and thereby I will always seek inspiration.. always by looking deep within me. Thanks for this!
Sincerely,
Elisa
