This week I’m concentrating on digital disaster – that is, preventing a real disaster to my business and work. It’s actually a pretty simple action task – backup!
Do you have a backup routine or system already setup? Onsite and offsite? If your hard drives blew up or some kind of digital monster wipes out your online presence, will you be able to recover painlessly?

I use Dropbox for online backups – not only files but also general information that I might need to access on the go. From media kit files to text blurbs to ads and related info material. If something gets overwritten or lost, I can access my files and recover easily.
After cleaning up my digital file library recently, I found it much more manageable and therefore easier to backup as well. Using timeline for the mac, I have it set to backup automatically.
Now it’s just maintaining the systems I have in place. Are you prepared as much as possible? Backup your digital files – from your harddrives to your online content. It’s also important to setup a process to happen automatically to avoid “forgetting.” This is my creative business action tip for the week.
