This month I decided to watch the video interviews on CreativeLive by Chase Jarvis and get some daily inspiration, motivation and wisdom. I’ve decided to blog about the series, logging my thoughts and takeaways…

Day 8 creative genius – Brené Brown.

A researcher and expert in shame, vulnerability and all that stuff that doesn’t seem like science, but truly is the importance science of our emotions and inner workings as humans. I’ve followed Brené for quite some time and read many of her books. I find all her work totally fascinating and fun to learn about!

I’m pretty sure I’ve blogged about Brené before and her famous TED talks. In this interview, Brown talks about the topics around her new book Rising Strong.

What story are you making up? What’s true? And what do you really need to know more about?

That is pretty much the crux of what she is trying to teach us. To recognize our own emotions and reactions and how to deal with difficult situations.

I agree with Jarvis when he comments about how amazing it would be if we had these types of life tools earlier in life! She talks about understanding trust and what BRAVING stands for as well. And finally…

Not using your creativity is dangerous.

What an interesting thought. Because yes, if you suppress your creativity, it will brew and bubble into something bad over time. Yes!

Listening to Brown talk is like having a wise elders tell you the low-down on how life works. You’ll definitely get something out of this talk and highly recommend it.
