I was told that it never snows here in our town…we don’t live in the mountains. “It’s like the Southern California of Italy!” Yeah right. Since I’ve moved here, each winter has been graced by a snowy weekend…

It’s a beautiful scene to witness and I certainly enjoy the photo opportunities. Snowy scenes in the Tuscan countryside really do look like the storybooks, as if we lived in the mountain regions near Austria. Unfortunately, it’s probably all fine and dandy for me because I don’t have to go anywhere and almost always stay at home. The 25 centimeters of snow in the Tuscany region has caused chaos for most others – just watch the news. There were people stuck overnight in their cars on the freeway…lots of blaming between the government authorities. Pretty silly. I went to school in Upstate New York, so it doesn’t seem like a lot of snow to me, but for an area that was completely unprepared I suppose it’s a big disaster. What seemed to block the roads up were giant delivery trucks that overturned or slid all over…jeepers!

I have a doctor’s appointment on Monday morning, so I wish everything would melt and go back to normal…but temperatures are still freezing today. More importantly, I’m worried all the snow will impede us from picking up our dear, Vash! He’s up in the hills…so I really do hope the snow goes away by Christmas. It’s funny how we all might imagine a white Christmas, but that’s only feasible if no one had to travel and we were cozy indoors 🙂 Fantasy!

Even our little balcony with a covering got a coat of snow. Thank goodness I saved my plants before it was too late. Now it’s just about riding it out…I suppose gives me more time to craft away…
