This month I decided to watch the video interviews on CreativeLive by Chase Jarvis and get some daily inspiration, motivation and wisdom. I’ve decided to blog about the series, logging my thoughts and takeaways…

Day 14 creative genius – Sir Mix-A-Lot.

I think we all know who Sir Mix-A-Lot is from his music success, but I did not know his beginnings and his story. It’s fascinating and amazing and really humbling. I think it’s amazing how honest and open he is about how he felt, what he knew or didn’t know. I think I would like him as a person, not just his music.

Real creators are not copycats.

If you steal from one person, you are stealing. If you steal from everybody it’s research.

Value your art.

Keep it real.

Those are the big points that I have taken away and it was interesting to hear the tidbits of how Sir Mix-A-Lot giving props to Taylor Swift for her open letter and diving a bit into politics and race issues. Interesting conversation, smart points, really good stuff basically.
