I’m typing this week’s take action task just minutes before the church clock tower strikes midnight – in the nick of time. It’s a reminder to myself that my time is precious and limited. With so many priorities having shifted for me lately, it’s time to let go of the little things that don’t matter as much.

We all know that time management is really about trade offs. Don’t do this, so that you can do that instead…

It’s really plain and simple, but I know that it’s difficult to let go. We don’t want to quit because it feels like failing. I’ve come to learn that it’s not failing, it’s choosing to move on to greener pastures. Every so often, I take the time to clean up and let go of the “one day” kind of projects. Things that take up space in my mind and studio. Like how I’m never going to finish knitting that blanket, because it hurts my hands to knit now. Or how I’m never going to finish that minibook idea because it just doesn’t excite me anymore.

Whether it’s in the studio or in life, comb through your task list and let some things go. It’s not only physical tasks, but emotional baggage as well. Trust me. You’ll feel so much lighter and ultimately you are making room for the new and exciting.

What do you need to let go of?
