Sleepy Ghosts Printable Stationery Set

It’s been a while since I’ve offered up a stationery set for download, so I thought it would be nice to have something in the Halloween or ghoulish theme for the upcoming holiday. I used my little sleepy ghost pattern to create this printable stationery set…sort of funky looking and not your normal cutesy design. The cool thing about printable stationery is that you can print as many pages as you need and really use it for lots of different things. A casual note stuck into a lunchbox, a long letter to a dear friend or just using the design for decoration around the house. This little guy is either sleepy or grumpy…maybe both!

Hope you enjoy this free printable and let me know if there’s anything in particular you are ever looking for. I’m always up for the challenge and like to do little design exercises and doodle away as a form of practice. The results always ends up being a freebie on my blogs. I’m all about sharing…if someone can use it and be happy! Until tomorrow…ciao ciao!

Spring Flowers Stationery Set – A Printable Freebie

Today would probably be the ideal example day for living in the Tuscan hills of Italy – sunny warm and happy bright weather. It’s the scene I think folks probably picture in their minds when I say that I live in Tuscany. You can almost feel the warm sun on your skin, hearing the birds chirping and listening to the cool breeze rustling through the many hills of grassy green. Well, it is true and is one of the reasons why I fell in love with this place…but it actually isn’t idyllic year-round. Only during this time of year, when the signs of Spring start popping up and it isn’t too hot where the grass starts to turn brown – does it look like the postcards you often see. My mood is always elevated by this lovely weather. I was inspired to whip up a spring flowers stationery set and it’s also part of my attempts this month to write more by hand. It’s National Letter Writing month after all!

I hope my design will cheer you up a bit, wherever you are…wild flowers have been popping up all over our yard so I have flowers on the brain! Even though dandelions are supposed to be weeds, they can be pretty as well or at least that’s what I tell myself because they’ve taken over our yard. Plus our niece has lots of fun blowing them all over.

BTW, if you like printable stationery, don’t forget to download the Airmail Stationery Set from last week as well. Enjoy and happy day to everyone! Ciao Ciao!

Airmail Stationery Set – A Printable Freebie

So I’ve always loved the look of dip pen handwriting, reminding me of the time when traditional correspondence was the norm. Unfortunately, my touristy-bought Italian dip pen set has been collecting dust in a box. I have really bad hand control and found it so difficult to write anything at all. Perhaps I was too impatient or perhaps I just didn’t give myself enough time to develop, so I want to give it another try. I realize practice makes perfect…the wonderful wisdom we learn from kindergarten.

I quickly designed a cute airmail stationery set to get myself into the mood of handwriting a letter. You can see from the photo that I printed on creamy cardstock which was perfect for the envelope but too big and too thick for the stationery writing paper. I reprinted the writing paper on plain paper and that definitely looks better. These were printed at half size to make mini-letters but of course the PDF is full US Letter sized paper.

I thought I would share this printable with all of you, so feel free to download the PDF above and use for your personal writing adventures. Have fun!

It’s been a fabulous month in terms of experimenting and furthering my hopes, dreams and goals of being an artist full-time. I’ve experimented with new mediums and also met so many fantastic folks online throughArt Every Day Month.

I appreciate ALL feedback and visits to this blog and know that it really means a lot. Besides experimentations, I have also been trying to work on my design illustrations.  One of my many goals is to open up an Etsy shop to sell my wares – art prints – stationery – creations of all types.  Since I have so many interests, it’s definitely hard to define exactly what I do, but I know it all starts with sketching out designs.

Printables make me excited because they can be delivered immediately and give you instant results. You can print what you want to use and as many as you need. Also from my business point of view, it’s a low upfront cost alternative for someone just starting out a business. A bit like print on demand, which is vastly becoming an common way of offering up products for sale.

I have offered some freebie printables previously on this blog and through this experience, some research and my own use of the many wonderful free printables out there, I’ve come to a few conclusions.

  1. I tend to print out designs that don’t use up too much ink, because I prefer to print on textured or colored paper as an alternative.
  2. I love sets of printables, so that I can match up everything such as wrapping a gift, labeling and writing up my card or note.
  3. I like the simplicity of just cutting paper in half or quarters and don’t like wasting any part of the paper printed.
  4. I totally understand the need for designers label or credit via logo and text, but hope it’s tastefully implemented and not using up too much ink.
  5. I also like printables that are customizable – you can type in some text in Adobe PDF before printing.

I haven’t yet figured out number 5, but I worked on a sample snowman stationery set with the other items in mind and would like to offer it as a FREE download today. I hope you enjoy these designs I have created!

I’m definitely still learning when it comes to variations of designs and how to format the layout. For example, I provide a lot of variation on each sheet, lined and blanked versions.  Perhaps it is better to provide full sheets of one style only, in case a person prefers one over the other, rather than both on the same page that must be printed together?  What about all pages in one file, do you often select print even though you didn’t mean to print out the whole file?  Or are separate files too unwieldy?  What about the fact that I include “designed by tortagialla.com” on everything as a small text rather than my very yellow and ink-soaking logo?

All my designs besides the envelope are designed to be cut in half or quarters exactly, no waste of paper.  It’s important of course to remember to print as high quality as possible on your preferred paper and at full 100% size, as these are designed for Lettered Sized paper.  Although for myself I design on A4 sized paper and would offer those variations for all printables – I love my US and Int’l peeps equally!  I’ve wondered also about the quality of files as these are saved as high quality PDFs specifically for printing at home – pretty big downloads.  Or would smaller sized downloads with less quality be acceptable? All things to consider and think about!

In attempts to declutter, I happened to glance through a bunch of my old drawings, watercolors and other such creative musings. I have to say it was quite nice to see all that I’ve accomplished so far, even if I still have a long way to go. It really helps to review your accomplishments and failures to see how far along you’ve really come. Along the way, I found an old acrylic painting of a little pink girl sitting on a tree branch…the first thing I painted after moving to Italy. She’s a bit disheveled and anxious looking, seemingly ready to say something – thus perfect for stationery! I thought it would be nice to share this with you as well.

Go ahead and download to print and use for whatever personal letters you might have to write.  Say hello to an old friend, stick a note in your child’s lunch bag or even a love note in your husband’s wallet!

This week has been pretty busy with freelance work and finishing up a set of baby paintings. I’ll have to prep the images and share when the show happens in October.  You can say my days have a certain regular routine, but even good planning doesn’t prevent the unknown from popping up and wreaking havoc at times. The idea is to not let the bumps bother you, I think. I could so relate to a recent blog post by Marisa from Creative Thursday.  It’s all about choosing to live a simpler life and it got me thinking about how much control we really have regarding the way we live and absolutely the way we feel.

You decide how to react and handle the various events of your life, so why not choose to do it in an orderly fashion? I try to go with the flow and ride the waves as they come, as much as possible.  We all do the best that we can!  I do have to remind myself to not worry over things I don’t have control over. Stay away from toxic people and keep friends and family close.  Declutter and do happy things!  I chose this lifestyle and I equally choose to make it calm, happy and simple. Punto e basta!  Have a great day blog friends! 😛
