I’m a huge fan of the vintage style designs, whether they are actual vintage papers or ones that have been created by a designer. I think of vintage colors as neutrals in my design projects and love to use them in backgrounds or as a base for other decorations. Even better when we pair vintage with modern patterns for a contemporary look!
So I decided to use old botanical drawings from NYPL digital collections with my own vintage designs and stylings to create a whole set of free vintage style patterned papers. I think they are perfect for all kinds of projects as botanicals can pretty much work with any project theme. I hope you like them too! What project will you work on next?

Looking for some vintage botanical style papers for planner, journaling and creative projects? Download these freebie digital paper patterns.
The New York Public Library has a digital collection has loads of public domain imagery, so it’s a great resource for anyone that likes vintage styled documents, maps, florals and pages. For old manuscripts and pages in the public domain, I like to use them to create some digital papers as well. You can also visit Unsplash for loads of free imagery to use in your papercrafting, especially when searching for vintage or botanical. Those of us who design and share have to pay attention to copyright laws, but if you are creating for personal use, I think it’s perfectly fine to just print whatever you see on your screen for personal/private projects.
Lately I’ve been feeling the vintage vibe and wanting florals to add to my junk journaling, so that’s the motivation behind these botanical papers. They are quite simple and almost wallpaper-like to me. I’m participating in #junkjournaljuly on Instagram, so definitely reaching for vintage papers more than anything else these days.

I’m always on the lookout for neutral papers that make great backgrounds for journaling. Neutrals are definitely a staple that we need in our paper stashes for collage. So vintage papers are a go-to in my book . I love the look of old papers and decided to create a set to add to my library of materials.
These papers are varying shades of vintage papers with an old script text overlaid on top. The text is actually from the Alice in Wonderland book, if you took the time to read it all! It’s pretty much decorative, creating a lovely vintage looking paper texture in the end.
I had fun creating these paper designs and think they would be great for junk journaling and collage backgrounds. How would you use these papers in your journal pages and spreads?

After scanning some old book papers from my personal collection, I had fun using some digital collage methods to create these designs. Love the vintage look and fear the blank page? Use these free printable vintage journal pages to give your work a headstart in looking and feeling vintage!
In thinking about my journaling process, I realize that I’ve been falling in love with junk journaling. There’s just something so easy and low pressure about it. I totally love this approach to journaling in general. Sometimes you write, sometimes you glue papers around. Whatever and anything goes! Just get creative.
So I decided to make myself a vintage paper to print as the pages of a new junk journal… because the slight texture is somehow more inviting than blank pages.
I don’t always have access to real vintage papers and often times, they are too delicate to use. If you use inks or other media, the tissue like nature of real vintage papers might not work. That’s why I just created a plain and simple vintage paper to print out.
With free printable vintage journal pages, you can make as many copies are you need and keep using the same design for an entire journal to keep things consistent. You can even print on both sides to make all the pages seamless.
This design is inspired by a vintage looking, shabby-chic ledger paper. It’s great to use as a neutral background, but the lines make it easy for journaling directly on the paper, without your lines of text getting too wobbly. I hope you enjoy this free printable and find it useful for your art journaling.
